IGBT Drive Transformer Products
Bicron's IGBT Drive transformers can provide isolation for operating voltages up to 20KV. They are typically custom designed to operate from 10KHz to 500KHz and are specially tuned to operate with a customer's control circuit with maximum efficiency and minimum compensation components. Minimizing the need for compensation components greatly aids the control of parasitics such as DC winding resistance and inter and intra-winding capacitance and leakage inductance. In this way greater power efficiencies are achieved and costs reduced for unneeded compensation components.

The function of the IGBT drive transformer is to generate an output voltage to turn on an IGBT controller circuit that regulates high voltages in the KV range. Key design considerations include isolation, leakage inductance and inductance. Major applications have been found in alternative energy wind power generation, rail traction control and power supply systems as well as large motor drive power controls.
